The Snoqualmie Valley Watershed Improvement District retained AMP Insights to assist with the design and implementation of a water bank to meet the water needs of valley farmers. The project began with an initial assessment of water needs, possible sources of supply, and legal and regulatory conditions. The project team coordinated closely on a water bank design and incorporated input from key partners and stakeholders. In January 2017, with assistance from AMP Insights SVWID launched the water bank and facilitated a two-way water auction. The auction was Washington State’s first two-way water auction open to both water right buyers and sellers- those wishing to lease excess water rights and those in need of water rights for irrigation.
